On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Controle Alt Delete organized a commemoration for all individuals who have died under the responsibility of law enforcement in the Netherlands. The memorial took place in The Hague, at a location between the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Justice and Security. The event coincided with the first day that the House of Representatives resumed work after the summer recess.
At the same time, Controle Alt Delete launched a petition calling for bereaved families to have access to the investigation files of the Dutch National Criminal Investigation Department (Rijksrecherche). The petition was drafted in collaboration with the bereaved and is supported by Victim Support Netherlands and Ypsilon.
The media gave significant attention to both the memorial and the petition. You can view the article in de Volkskrant, our contribution to the NPO Radio 1 news, an interview with a bereaved person on EenVandaag radio, and an interview with Controle Alt Delete and the bereaved on Hart van Nederland.
